BIO
Katherine has been dancing her whole life, starting at a local studio in her hometown of Lexington VA. She trained in the summers with Richmond Ballet and Joffrey Ballet, and then furthered her dance and pedagogy studies at Mercyhurst University in Erie PA. She has worked with notable guest artists Laura Alonso, Virginia Johnson, and Nilas Martins among others.
Katherine has danced professionally with Lake Erie Ballet, US International Ballet, and as a freelancer in Washington DC. Currently, she is with the New Mexico Ballet Company. She has performed soloist roles including Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Paquita in Paquita, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Mercedes in Don Quixote, Myrtha in Giselle, Ursula in The Little Mermaid, and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Additionally, she has performed in the ballets Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Coppélia, The Great Gatsby, Napoli, Serenade, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake, as well as dancing various contemporary works.
Katherine has over ten years of teaching experience in dance, health, and fitness classes for all ages and levels. She has taught at dance schools and companies including Ballet Petite, Connect the Dots Dance School, The Dance Cooperative, Studio A of Wilmington, US International Ballet, Wilmington School of Ballet, and currently at the New Mexico Ballet Company School. She has also taught at the YMCA and Kendal at Lexington Retirement Community. Additionally, she teaches private classes online worldwide and in person in Albuquerque NM.
